Buying a home is a life-changing purchase and the first step is knowing what’s out there. Thankfully there are a bunch of great real estate apps that make it easy to see what’s available in your area, compare prices, and start planning. View our favorite real estate apps as of July 2021 below:
Zillow - Chances are, if you’re looking for a house you’re already familiar with Zillow. Zillow was a pioneer in the real estate app game, providing estimated home values, past sale prices and more for virtually every home in the United States. If you’re looking to buy a home, Zillow is a must-have app. View home prices by location, filter offers, and search options in your preferred neighborhood.
Redfin - Redfin is part app, part brokerage firm. The app offers estimated home values (sometimes more accurate than Zillow’s algorithm) and gives you the option to filter upcoming open houses to get an idea of what homes like yours are going for in your area. Bonus: the standard real estate fees for Redfin are lower than traditional agents.
LoopNet.com - If you’re looking for a multi-unit or commercial property LoopNet.com is for you. LoopNet is exclusively for commercial property investors and is perfect for those interested in investing in real estate properties. Download and plug in your local area to view results for multi-unit residential and commercial office spaces.
Trulia - Trulia was once its own company but is now owned by Zillow which means more useful data for both apps! Typically, Trulia is better for those actively searching for a new home. Their search function includes the ability to search by specific home features (ex. hardwood floors) so you know you’ll only see homes that meet your specific needs. Pro-tip: use both Zillow and Trulia for the best results!
Xome - Do you love the thrill of an auction? Then Xome is for you. Xome offers real estate searches like other apps, but also gives you access to real estate auctions. Click over to the “Homes Only” section to find deals on bank-owned, foreclosed, short-sale, and standard home listings. This is a great feature if you’re looking to pick up a property before it hits the general market at a lower rate.
Realtor.com - Welcome to the official portal of the National Association of Realtors. This site/app is your digital relationship with realtors in the Multiple Listing System (MLS). Sounds fancy, but it’s what you want if you’re serious about real estate. Bonus: Realtor.com is often updated a little faster than other sites and has a wider range of listed properties.
Homesnap - If communication is one of your top priorities, then Homesnap is the app for you! Homesnap adds messaging and sharing features that make home buying with a partner easier than ever before. HomeSnap also offers real-time MLS updates, giving you access to new and updated listings as quickly as possible.
